These blog posts are written to help you be the best solopreneur that you can be. I promise to write with your best interests in mind and to think from your viewpoint because after 15 years as an independent consultant, I've walked in your shoes. Also, through PICA I’ve helped over a thousand solo professionals. You can expect practical tips and meaningful insight in every blog post. Occasionally I post guest blogs, but when I do, they’re full of practical tips and advice too.

About the author

Liz Steblay

After 20 years as a successful solopreneur/entrepreneur, I’ve come to realize that helping others to launch and grow their own small business is my “joy fuel.” I simply love doing it!

I fell into independent consulting after being laid off from my corporate job in 2004. I called a former colleague, asked if he needed any help, and the rest is history. That first year I worked less, made more money, lowered my effective tax rate, and had more quality time with my kid. I knew I’d never go back to a “real job” despite being a single mom in an expensive city.

Five years later I discovered an unmet need in the market and I created ProKo Agency Inc., a modern talent model that matches org effectiveness consultants with Fortune 500 clients while mitigating co-employment risk. As a result of growing ProKo into a multi-million-dollar business, I got the reputation as the person to call if you have questions about being self-employed. That’s why I started this blog in 2017.

In 2018, I launched the Professional Independent Consultants of America (PICA), a national organization that provides education, tools, templates, and advice for self-employed professionals. There is a lot more content on PICA’s site so I encourage you to check it out. www.PICAnetwork.org Or, you can simply buy my book to get all my best tips and advice in one place. www.SixKeys.info

Before launching ProKo, this blog, or PICA, I was a management consultant including 5 years with PwC Consulting and 15 years serving Fortune 500 clients such as Intuit, Clorox, Levi Strauss, NetApp, and Franklin Templeton Investments.

I have a B.S. and an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. (Fight on!) When not working I enjoy traveling, skiing, golfing, and playing Candy Crush.

Be your best,
